Graduation Requirements
The Graduation Requirements are outlined in detail on the FPS District Site under -
student course guide

Grade Point Average & Credits

  • Each semester class is awarded one-half credit.
  • The grade point average is determined by calculating each trimester grade for each class according to the following guidelines: A = 4, B = 3, C = 2, D = 1, F= 0
  • Plus or minus are not assigned to grades.
  • Repeat classes will have the higher grade averaged in the GPA.
  • Credit is given only once for successful completion of a course. (A class may not be repeated if a higher level of that subject has been accomplished.) The original grade remains on the transcript.

Transcripts

  • Students can order their transcripts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week online at -
  • Students can also order a self-view to be e-mailed to themselves.
  • To set up a Parchment account -

    • Farmington Public Schools includes Farmington, Farmington Hills, and a portion of West Bloomfield.
    • You can verify District boundaries by viewing our district map -
    • If you are unsure which school your child should attend within our school district, please refer to our district street guide -
    • Farmington Public Schools is not an open enrollment school district. You must live within the state-defined District boundaries to enroll.  The State of Michigan bases residency on your domicile, typically identified as the place of permanent residence, where you sleep at night.  The only exception would be those students participating in Section 105 Schools of Choice.

School of Choice (Section 105)

  • Please see our Schools of Choice Section Intra-District (Farmington Public Schools' Residents) and Section 105 (Oakland County Residents) -

Ways a Parent Can Work with the School

  • Join and help lead the parent organization like FHS PTSA -
  • Attend parent-teacher conferences and other school events.
  • Check the MiStar Parent Portal & Canvas -
  • Contact teachers with specific questions and concerns.
  • Motivate your child to do homework by emphasizing effort; discuss what is studied.
  • Encourage reading.
  • Talk with your child about alcohol and other drugs as well as the school Positive Culture Handbook -
  • Teach goal setting and help the student take responsibility for their learning and behavior.
  • Help your child start thinking about a career: review their electronic EDP through Xello.
  • Frequently discuss your child's school work and reflection statements to stimulate thinking. Self-reflection is the key to visualizing a tentative career goal.
  • Encourage volunteer experiences, mentoring, job-shadowing, internships and/or school-to-work opportunities.
