Guidelines
Letter of Recommendation/Transcript Procedures
The Farmington High School Counseling Center is happy to provide students with Letters of Recommendations/Transcripts/Test Scores for any scholarship applications or summer programs. To process these requests, please allow Five (5) business days.
In order to be considered official, these materials must be sent directly from the Counseling Office to the sponsoring agencies, therefore, please plan accordingly the timeliness of these requests. Students must turn in all of their completed documents to their counselor before their information can be sent through the U.S. Mail. The completed information will not be given directly to the students and their families for mailing, so it is very important for the student to contact their counselor within the five day guideline in order to meet a postmark deadline.
Parchment™
College Bound? Transcript requests are available online at the beginning of a student’s senior year.
If you’re applying to college, you’ve already got plenty of forms to fill out. So here’s how to avoid a few: Order your transcripts on line.
Your school has joined forces with Parchment™, as mandated by the State of Michigan, to bring you Secure TranscriptTM – the safe, paperless way to send transcripts directly to the colleges you choose. It’s easy, it’s secure, and it’s available 24/7.
We’ll send out an official transcript checked and approved by your school, to the colleges and scholarship funds you choose. We’ll email you to confirm that they’ve gone out. And for the colleges that accept transcripts electronically, we’ll even confirm when they receive them.
Secure Transcript makes applying to college a little easier – for your school, for your colleges, and for you.
Here’s how it works:
Sign Up – Find the Secure Transcript link below. The student email address is the username and the student chooses a password. Parchment may have to contact you through this email address. There is a student profile portion that Parchment asks you to complete; you DO NOT need to do this since the majority of this information is in your EDP (Educational Development Plan).
Choose –
- Select Farmington High School as the high school that will send your transcript
- Select the colleges you’re applying to. Parchment has the addresses. Make sure to request your transcripts be sent to the college when you apply
Sign Off – If necessary, pay online. There could be a small fee for some schools.

Correspondence Credit
Students may select up to 4 credits in elective areas with a FHS approved correspondence program. Prior counselor approval must be given before registering for such a course. See your counselor for details.
Dual Enrollment
Attending a college class while a high school student is possible when the district and State of Michigan eligibility guidelines are followed. Contact your counselor for information.
Homebound
When a student has an extended period of illness requiring at least a five-day hospitalization or recuperation at home verified by a medical doctor, the school can provide for his/her continuing education. Contact the student's counselor for more information. During a shorter absence (3 days or longer), parents may contact the Attendance Office on the fourth day to request homework. Please allow staff a 24-hour period to compile assignments.
