FARMINGTON HIGH SCHOOL presents the musical comedy Once Upon a Mattress by Mary Rodgers, Marshall Barer, Jay Thompson, and Dean Fuller Sue Cobb, Assistant Director/Producer, 248-417-2276
Farmington, MI – Join us as the Farmington High School theatre cast, crew, and orchestra bring to life the “fractured” fairy tale of The Princess and the Pea in the musical comedy Once Upon a Mattress. This will be director Dean Cobb’s 105 th show in the FPS district and will prove to be an evening full of talent, humor, and fun for all.
Due to an unhappy curse, King Sextimus (Zak Burns-Pavlik) is unable to speak. His terror of a wife, Queen Aggravain (Kelsey Hill), rules the kingdom with a heavy hand and in an attempt to keep Prince Dauntless the Drab (Brody Kennedy) single, won’t allow him to marry unless a princess can pass the Queen’s tests. Furthermore, no one in the kingdom may marry until Dauntless does, leaving Lady Larken (Olivia Tumminello) and Sir Harry (Michael Patterson) in a real pickle, since they are in “the family way.” Even though the queen has tested every princess in the region, Sir Harry is finally able to find Princess Winnifred the Woebegone (Olivia Campbell) who lives in the swamps. She is a wonderful girl who swims the moat and catches the eye of Dauntless. The Jester (Orla Smith) and Minstrel (Shreya Mishra), as well as the people of the kingdom, love her!
Will Winnifred pass Queen Aggravain’s test? Will King Sextimus ever speak again? How can the king have “that talk” with Dauntless when he can’t speak?! It’s up to you to find out!
