FARMINGTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS - HIGH SCHOOL DANCE GUIDELINES

Student Council, Leadership, faculty, and administrative teams of the Farmington Public School District wish to present safe, incident-free, evenings of enjoyment at all school dances. This goal will require the full cooperation of all participants, with regard to exercising socially acceptable standards of conduct and behavior. Therefore, students and non-student guests are expected to adhere to the following rules and regulations:

1. All guest passes are subject to denial by administration for any reason at any time.

 2. Guests are REQUIRED to present photo identification at the door of the event. Birthdates will be verified at that time.

3. Students must enter the dance by the designated starting time. (NO LATER THAN ONE HOUR after the posted dance start time). Once you leave the campus, you will NOT be allowed to re-enter, and students must sign out if they leave before the end of the dance.

4. ALCOHOL, DRUGS, AND CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES ARE PROHIBITED. Any student (determined by school personnel), who is under the influence of any controlled substance will be removed from the dance, a parent will be contacted and the law enforcement agent will conduct an investigation.

5. In order to be admitted to the dance, the student, and his/her non-student guest, must be dressed appropriately. This is a formal dance. All dresses and skirts must be finger-tip length. All students must conform to the dress code of the WSD which includes shoes being worn at all times.

 6. The student, and his/her non-student guest, must abide by the FHS Code-of-Conduct. Any violation of said code will result in disciplinary action.

 7. The students are expected to dance in a manner that is school-appropriate. “Freaking” (lewd, vulgar, and/or sexually suggestive dance steps) is prohibited. One warning will be given. If the student continues after being warned, he/she will be evicted from the dance without reimbursement for the ticket price or other related expenses. Failure to cooperate with administration when asked to leave the dance will be considered insubordination and subject to further disciplinary action. Students are to adhere to the dancing guideline, “Face to Face and leave some space.”

8. The student of the FPS will be held responsible and accountable for the disruptive actions of his/her non-student guest. Each student is allowed one non-student guest and must have the required guest pass completed in order to attend. The maximum age of any non-student guest is 20 and no students in middle school or younger may attend. You are responsible for the guest you bring to the event. Choose Your Guest Wisely! NO MATTER HOW YOU SAY IT….SAY “NO” TO ALCOHOL AND DRUGS. Help us to maintain a safe and enjoyable culture for all students and staff
