April is National Volunteer Month!  To celebrate, the PTSA Student Leaders are challenging the FHS Falcon Community to volunteer during the month.  Join one or more of the events below or another event of your choice, and count your hours towards your Community Service Honor Cord OR National Honor Society (NHS) OR International Baccalaureate (IB) requirements.  Check out the PTSA showcase and the Farmington High School Community Facebook page for more details about the events below.  Take pictures of volunteering and share them on the FHS Community Facebook page.

UPCOMING COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES:

   - Farmington High School Boys Lacrosse Concessions - Volunteers needed to sell concessions at FHS Boys Lacrosse Home Games; Various dates April 4 - May 15, 2024 - LINK TO SIGN UP GENIUS

   - FAAPN (Farmington African American Parent Network) Super Saturday Tutoring -. Tutors needed Saturdays April 6, 13, 20, 27, and May 4, 11, 2024 9-11AM for reading, math, and science to elementary through 12th grade students; Farmington High School Media Center, 32000 Shiawassee Road, Farmington, MI 48336; Tutoring is EVERY Saturday, throughout the school year (except during school breaks); Take a community service form for signature by a supervisor - LINK TO SIGN UP

   - Heritage Park Volunteer Day - Saturday, April 20, 2024 10AM-12PM; Heritage Park 24915 Farmington Road; Meet at the Nature Center; Dress to work outside and off-trail; Wear long, pants/sleeves, closed toed shoes; Bring work gloves if available; EVERYONE IS WELCOME! No sign up required.  Take a community service form for signature by a supervisor 

   - 3rd Annual CARES Campus Clean Up with Rebuilding Together -  Saturday, April 27, 2023; 9AM-12PM; CARES Campus 27835 Shiawassee Street, Farmington Hills, MI 48336.  Farmington High School PTSA Student Leaders are partnering with CARES of Farmington Hills (https://caresfh.org) and Rebuilding Together Southeast Michigan (https://www.rtsemi.org) for a community-wide CARES Campus Clean Up. CARES offers comprehensive support services for individuals and families in and around the Farmington Hills area who are in need of everyday necessities due to insufficient financial resources or family instability. This event is registered as a National PTA Day of Service and is a National Rebuilding Day event.  Service activities include cleaning up debris around the campus, sorting, inventorying, and stocking non-perishable food, and more for students, staff, families, and community members! Invite friends. EVERYONE IS WELCOME!  Pizza and refreshments will be served following the event. We are also collecting donations of individually packaged snack items (i.e. fruit cups, protein bars, granola bars, nuts, chips, cookies, etc.) for treat bags for CARES clients.  LINK TO SIGN UP GENIUS

COMMUNITY SERVICE GUIDELINES AND REPORT FORM/EVALUATION:

Please refer to the below link for community service guidelines and for the Community Service Report Form/Evaluation.  Students must complete and submit the form to the counseling office for community service hours to be counted toward the Community Service Honor Cord for commencement.  Students need 40 hours of community service between the summer after 8th grade and April 30 of senior year to earn a Community Service Honor Cord.  Seniors, it is not too late for you to earn your Community Service Honor Cord!
